Internet Explorer Not Responding

Problem Description:
If Internet Explorer stops responding and this is the first time, it is probably an issue with a slow internet connection or Windows running some other application in the background. But if this issue keeps recurring, then it may be caused by spyware, an add-on, a computer virus, or a corrupted cache file. You need to troubleshoot and fix it.
Affected Products:
Internet Explorer for Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Vista and Windows XP. Internet Explorer for Mac Operating System. Applies to Internet Explorer 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and beyond.
Cause of the Problem:
  • Windows Update has not installed latest IE updates.
  • Add-ons may be interfering with Internet Explorer.
  • File in local temporary cache corrupted.
Instructions for Internet Explorer Not Responding Error :
Step 1 : Install Latest Windows Updates
  1. Running Windows Update can often correct problems by replacing out-of-date files, updating drivers and fixing vulnerabilities.
  2. Open the Windows Update applet from the Control Panel or by entering Windows Update in the Search Bar in the start button.
  3. Check if any important or optional updates are available. if they are, then click on Install Update.
  4. If after Installing Windows Update the problem is not fixed go to Step 3.
Step 2 : Disable Internet Explorer Add-Ons
  1. Tap or click the Tools button and then tap or click Manage add-ons.
  2. Under Show, tap or click All Add-ons and then disable all of them by tapping or clicking each one and then selecting Disable.
  3. Restart Internet Explorer and test.
  4. If you can successfully access the internet then the issue is with an installed add-on. Re-enable each add-on one at a time and test to verify what add-on is causing the issue.
  5. If you cannot connect then go to Step 3.
Step 3 : Delete your browsing history and all temporary browser files
  1. Open Internet Explorer Tool Menu and under it select Internet Options.
  2. Under Browsing history, click Delete.
  3. Select Temporary Internet Files, Cookies and History.
  4. Do not select Form data, or Favorite Website Data, or Passwords.
  5. Click Delete.
  6. Try Connecting to the Internet. If you cannot connect go to Step 3.
