Internet Explorer Proxy Server Setting Error

Problem Description:
Proxy settings are used to tell Internet Explorer the network address of an intermediary server (known as a proxy server) that is used between the browser and the Internet on some networks. By default, Internet Explorer automatically detects proxy settings. But sometimes malicious software may change Windows Internet Explorer proxy settings and these changes can prevent you from accessing the internet.
Affected Products:
Internet Explorer for Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Vista and Windows XP. Internet Explorer for Mac Operating System. Applies to Internet Explorer 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and beyond.
Cause of the Problem:
  • Internet Explorer Not Configured Properly.
  • Browser or Windows infected with Malware or Virus.
Instructions for Fixing Proxy Server Error :
Step 1 : Check Proxy Server Configuration
  1. Open Internet Explorer by clicking the Start button and then clicking Internet Explorer.
  2. Click the Tools button and then click Internet Options.
  3. Click the Connections tab and then click LAN settings.
  4. Make that the "Use a proxy server for your LAN" box is unchecked, Click Apply and OK.
  5. Check if the Proxy Server Error is fixed. If not, go to Step 2.
Step 2 : Reset Internet Explorer to its default configuration
  1. This will also disable any add-ons, plug-ins, or toolbars that are installed. So if a malicious add-on is causing the problem, you will know for sure.
  2. In Internet Explorer menu, click Tools and then Internet Options.
  3. Select the Advanced tab and click Reset. Again, click Reset in the Reset Internet Explorer Settings.
  4. Click Ok to exit and restart Internet Explorer for the change to take effect.
  5. If after Resetting the Internet Explorer, the problem is not fixed go to Step 3.
Step 3 : Scan the Computer for Virus or Malware.
  1. If you do not have a paid version of Antivirus software, install Microsoft's free version, Microsoft Security Essentials at http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx.
  2. This is a useful, free program and can detect most commonly found viruses.
  3. Download and Install it. If you are not familiar with how to Scan using Antivirus software you probably need help from a qualified technician.
