Too Many Pop-Ups with Internet Explorer

Problem Description:
Internet Explorer as well as other browsers like Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox may start throwing unwanted pop-ups that at best can be a distraction or at some point may even impeded your ability to surf the net and do anything useful with your computer.
Affected Products:
Internet Explorer for Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Vista and Windows XP. Internet Explorer for Mac Operating System. Applies to Internet Explorer 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and beyond.
Cause of the Problem:
  • Internet Explorer Pop-Up Blocker not enabled.
  • Internet Explorer is infected with a malicious add-on.
  • Windows is infected with a Spyware or Malware.
Instructions for Fixing Fixing Too Many Pop-up Problem :
Step 1 : Make sure Internet Explorer Pop-Up Blocker is Turned On
  1. To enable popup blocking from Microsoft Internet Explorer go to Tools.
  2. Then Select the Privacy Options in Tools.
  3. And you will get a selection to block or not block pop-ups.
  4. Make sure the selection is selected and all pop-ups are blocked.
  5. If the Pop-Up problem is not fixed go to Step 2.
Step 2 : Disable Internet Explorer Add-Ons
  1. While browser add-ons can enhance your online experience, they can occasionally interfere or conflict with other software on your computer.
  2. Tap or click the Tools button and then tap or click Manage add-ons. Under Show, tap or click All Add-ons and then disable all of them by tapping or clicking each one and then selecting Disable.
  3. Restart Internet Explorer and test.
  4. If the pop-up problem is fixed, then the issue is with an installed add-on. Re-enable each add-on one at a time and test to verify what add-on is causing the issue.
  5. If the problem is not fixed, go to Step 3.
Step 3 : Scan the Computer for Virus or Malware.
  1. If you do not have a paid version of Antivirus software, install Microsoft's free version, Microsoft Security Essentials at http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx.
  2. This is a useful, free program and can detect most commonly found viruses.
  3. Download and Install it. If you are not familiar with how to Scan using Antivirus software you probably need help from a qualified technician.
