Uninstall Malicious Internet Explorer Add-Ons or Toolbars

Problem Description:
Internet Explorer add-ons or toolbars can sometimes cause the browser to run slowly and crash. Some add-ons are spyware that track your browsing history and throw advertising pop-ups. Some can even hijack your home page and redirect it to another site. In such cases the disable or delete add-on button is grayed out. It's a good idea to delete add-ons if you suspect they're causing performance, compatibility, or security problems.
Affected Products:
Internet Explorer for Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Vista and Windows XP. Internet Explorer for Mac Operating System. Applies to Internet Explorer 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and beyond.

Step 3 : Scan the Computer for Virus or Malware.
  1. If you have not been able to remove the add-on or the delete add-on button is grayed out, then most likely your computer is infected.
  2. If you do not have a paid version of Antivirus software, install Microsoft's free version, Microsoft Security Essentials at http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx.
  3. This is a useful, free program and can detect most commonly found viruses.
