Cannot Install Microsoft Office

Problem Description:
This may happen for both an installation using a CD or a download of the Office program. There are different ways this problem may manifests. The download of the software simply hangs after some time. The download is completed but when the setup file is run you get an error message.
Affected Products:
Microsoft Office 2013; Microsoft Office 2010; Microsoft Office 2007; Microsoft Office 2003.
Cause of the Problem:
  • Antivirus or firewall is blocking installation or download
  • Temporary internet files created by browser
  • Older version of Microsoft Office is blocking install
  • Hardware acceleration is turned of
  • Internet Explorer or another browser settings blocking downloads
Instructions for Fixing Problem Sending & Receive Email Problem :
Step 1 : Temporarily disable antivirus or firewall
  1. Antivirus or antimalware software can potentially interfere with your Office install. Try disabling or temporarily uninstalling your software.
  2. The status of your antivirus software is typically displayed in Action Center. Open Action Center by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, and then, under System and Security, clicking Review your computer's status.
  3. Click the arrow button Picture of the arrow button next to Security to expand the section. If Windows can detect your antivirus software, it's listed under Virus protection.
  4. If the software is on, check the Help that came with the software for information on temporarily disabling it.
  5. If you still cannot install Microsoft Office go to Step 2.
Step 2 : Delete temporary internet files with Disk Clean up
  1. Disk Cleanup is a Windows utility that removes temporary files, empties the Recycle Bin, and removes a variety of system files and other items that you no longer need.
  2. Open Disk Cleanup by clicking the Start button. In the search box, type Disk Cleanup, and then, in the list of results, click Disk Cleanup.
  3. In the Drives list, click the hard disk drive that you want to clean up, and then click OK.
  4. In the Disk Cleanup dialog box, on the Disk Cleanup tab, select the check boxes for the file types that you want to delete, and then click OK. In the message that appears, click Delete files.
  5. If you still cannot install Microsoft Office go to Step 3.
Step 3 : Remove older version of Office
  1. Check Programs and Features in Control Panel for earlier versions of Office on your PC. If you find an earlier version, click Uninstall.
  2. Make sure before you uninstall the earlier version of Office, you have the product key and installation media of the older Office, in case you'd like to reinstall.
