How to Restore Windows

Problem Description:
If you're having problems with your PC, that cannot be fixed, one option is take back your Windows to an earlier instance. This should be done only for the most complicated problems that you have been unable to fix. Windows offers 3 different options to go back : Refresh, Restore, or Reset. The best option and the easiest one to try is Windows Restore.
Affected Products:
Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8 and all other versions of Windows

Instructions to Restore Windows :
Step 1 : Create Windows Restore Point
  1. Windows Restore helps you restore your computer's system files to an earlier point in time. It's a way to undo system changes to your computer without affecting your personal files, such as e-mail, documents, or photo.
  2. System Restore isn't intended for backing up personal files, so it cannot help you recover a personal file that has been deleted or damaged.
  3. To be able to Restore Windows to an earlier version, you need to first configure Windows to create what are called Windows Restore Points.
  4. To do so, Open System by clicking the Start button, right-clicking Computer, and then clicking Properties. In the left pane, click System protection.
  5. Click the System Protection tab, and then click Create. In the System Protection dialog box, type a description, and then click Create.
Step 2 : Restoring Windows to Earlier Point
  1. Open System Restore by clicking the Start button. In the search box, type System Restore, and then, in the list of results, click System Restore.
  2. You will need Administrator permission. So if you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
  3. You will be then show a Windows Restore Wizard. Follow the steps in the wizard and choose a restore point to go back to an earlier instance of Windows on your computer.
