Windows Cannot Connect to Bluetooth Device

Problem Description:
Windows may at times have trouble to your wireless device, or Bluetooth devices such as printers, scanners, speakers, or smart phones. The issue here maybe with the device that you are trying to connect or Windows setup or the computer hardware.
Affected Products:
Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and other versions of Windows
Cause of the Problem:
  • Windows Bluetooth Signal Transmission Not Enabled.
  • Bluetooth devices not configured for discovery.
  • Find devices and content in PC settings.
Instructions for Fixing Windows Bluetooth Connectivity Problem :
Step 1 : Make sure Bluetooth is Enabled
  1. Tap or select Settings in Windows 8, and then tap Change PC settings.
  2. Tap or click PC and devices, and tap or click Bluetooth.
  3. Make sure Bluetooth is turned on.
Step 2 : Make sure Bluetooth enabled device is on and discoverable
  1. If your Bluetooth or wireless enabled device is not setup to be discoverable then Windows will not be able to connect to it.
  2. Some wireless routers for instance can be configured to not broadcast their SSID (their network identifier). In such a case unless you know the SSID you will not be able to connect to the wireless router.
  3. Methods for making Bluetooth device discoverable can vary widely depending on the device. If your device has a wireless switch, make sure it’s turned on. The switch could be on the front, back, or side and it could be small and unmarked.
Step 3 : Make sure Find devices and content in PC settings is turned on
  1. To connect to devices or PCs on a network, make sure Find devices and content in PC settings is turned on for the network you’re connected to.
  2. Turning on this setting prepares your PC for sharing files and devices on a network. It also automatically sets the appropriate firewall and security settings for the type of network that you connected to.
  3. Tap or click Network, tap or click Connections, and then tap or click your network connection. Turn on Find devices and content.
