Unable to Download McAfee® Software

Problem Description:
When installing McAfee Security products your download process either gets stuck and hangs or some users may even get a specific error code pop-up such as "Unable to Continue Installation. We're having trouble completing your McAfee software installation because of this error: 12152".
Affected Products:
McAfee AntiVirus Plus, McAfee Internet Security, McAfee Total Protection, McAfee All Access, McAfee Family Protection, McAfee Live Safe
Cause of the Problem:
  • Internet connectivity or network problem causing an error message such as 12152.
  • Proxy server is blocking the download of the McAfee software.
  • Conflict with an older version of McAfee software is blocking installation.
Instructions for Fixing the McAfee Download Problem:
Step 1 : Check if your internet connection is working
  1. The 12152 error usually refers to a generic network problem which has caused your download to disconnect or fail.
  2. Verify that your Internet connection is functioning and try your install again. Open another website to see if the internet connection is working.
  3. If it is not then you may need help from your ISP or a qualified technician for help.
Step 2 : Change your browser setting to disable proxy server.
  1. If your computer is part of a home or office network that is connected to the internet with a common connection, the chances are your requests to the web are being routed through a proxy server.
  2. Open your browser say the Internet Explorer.
  3. Verify the box beside Use proxy server for your LAN is not selected.
  4. Click OK and select the Advanced tab & Click Reset.
Step 3 : Download and run the McAfee Consumer Product Removal (MCPR) tool.
  1. Download the MCPR tool from: http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe.
  2. Navigate to the folder where you saved the file, and double-click MCPR.exe. When you see the User Account Control dialog box, click Yes.
  3. At the McAfee Software Removal screen, click Next. At the End User License Agreement (EULA) dialog box, click Next to accept the agreement.
  4. When prompted, type the Captcha information, which is case sensitive, to validate to application security, and then click Next.
  5. When you see the message CleanUp Successful, restart your computer. Your McAfee product will not be fully removed until after the restart.
